How do I delete my account?

If you'd like to delete your account you can:

Choose on "Settings" in the top right hand corner
Choose "Other"
Choose "Delete Account Data"
Check the checkbox to indicate that you understand that you want to delete your account data and logout
Push the button entitled "Delte and Log Out"

This will delete your account data from our records and log you out of the application

What are Carbon Mitigation Assets?

Carbon Mitigation Assets is the inclusive term for portfolios of carbon credits, carbon offets and avoidances. A carbon credit is a type of certificate that represents 1 tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent that was removed or kept out of the atmosphere. The purpose of a carbon credit is to provide a monetary incentive for the reduction of greenhouse gass pollution.

The Carbon Reserve purchases and verifies Carbon Mitigation Assets and then mints the equivalent amount of tocos.

What is a commodity-representative currency?

Commodity-representative money is any type of money that represents a fixed quanity of a commodity. The most well-known of these was the gold standard, under which the world operated until 1971, where the money supply was convertible into a fixed amount of gold. Unlike fiat money (the money we use today) that does not have intrinsic value, commodity-representative money, has its value derived from the assets it represents, for example tradable commodities such as gold, or in our case carbon mitigation assets.

What is the Carbon Reserve?

The Carbon Reserve is a Swiss-based not-for-profit foundation that verifies and mints tocos.

What are carbon markets?

Carbon markets refer to the markets in which carbon credits, allowances and other instruments are traded between countries,companies and individuals. The carbon market is made up of the volunatry market and the compliance market.

How do I create my toco wallet?

Once you have been added as a toco beta tester you can sign up on either our mobile or web app.

How to set up your wallet:

Download the toco app from the Google Play store (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
Enter your contact details and validate your email address (we will email you a one-time code).
Name your wallet. Note that when people send money to your wallet this is the name that will be displayed in their transactions.
Save your 12 secret words in a secure location. This is very important. If you need to access your wallet on a new device or lose your passcode, you will have to enter your 12 Secret Words. Toco does not store your seed phrase, so if you lose it, you may lose access to your wallet.
Set a 6-digit passcode
Optional: Set up your FaceID or fingerprint for easy access.
Verify your wallet. You will need a form of identity document (ID, passport or driver's licence) and proof of address (e.g. a utility bill).

What are tocos fees?

You will pay a 1% transaction fee when you pay in tocos. It is free to create a toco wallet and there are no monthly account fees.

How do I verify my wallet?

Setting up a toco account is similar to opening a bank account, and we are legally required to confirm your identity. To verify your wallet, you will need your ID, passport or Driver’s license and proof of address. Once you have created your wallet select "verify" and follow the in-app prompts.

Is toco safe?

Yes! The toco app requires a passcode before any transaction can be completed. This prevents others from making transactions on your device, as your passcode should be known only to you. If you have a Face ID or fingerprint-enabled device, you can use these in lieu of your passcode. As an additional security measure, if someone attempts to access your wallet from a new device, they would be required to enter your 12 secret words. As long as you keep your passcode and secret words private, you won’t have any security issues.

What are the 12 secret words?

When you create your toco wallet you are given 12 secret words. These are 12 completely random English words that you need to please save in a safe place. If you ever want to create your toco wallet on a new device or if you forget your passcode you will need to enter your 12 secret words.

Please keep in mind that you are the only person in the whole world who has these 12 secret words because you are the only person with access to your wallet. Toco does not keep a backup of these words for you.

Who has access to my information?

Toco securely encrypts all personal details, including the card and banking information you use to exchange tocos for your local currency. These details are never shared and they are not stored on our systems. Your card details are encrypted and only used in combination with your passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID when an exchange is made.

How do I top up my wallet with tocos?

Here are the steps you will follow:

In the app click "Add toco"
Enter the amount of Toco that you want to buy.
Select the currency that you want to buy. It will display the associated cost in that currency given the prevailing exchange rates. Note that you can then change the amount in either Tocos or the selected Fiat currency and the other value will change accordingly.
Select the payment method. The available payment method will depend on what country you are in and what currency you are paying in. Credit card is universally accepted (note that you can also buy using Apple Pay or Google Pay). If paying in Euros you can choose to pay via direct debit from your bank account.
Follow the prompts depending on your selected payment method and add the associated payment information.
Confirm payment.

How do I exchange tocos for fiat currency?

These are the steps you will follow to switch your tocos back to your currency of choice.

Click ‘sell’.
Enter the amount in toco, you would like to sell.
Load your bank details in the toco app. Note that the name of the bank account holder will need to be the same as the name you used to register your Tocos account.
If the Carbon Reserve is buying tocos the price will be shown. If the Carbon Reserve is not buying tocos there will be a message stating that sales are not currently open.

Using Toco as a business

What fees are charged on payments received?

It is free to receive payments in tocos.

What happens if a payment amount is incorrect?

If you are underpaid, you can run a second transaction for the additional amount. If you are overpaid, it is your responsibility to reimburse the customer. Toco transactions cannot be reversed.

Can I link toco to my current point of sale system?

Not at this time. In relation to an existing point of sale system, toco transactions can be treated as cash sales, but with the benefit that all transactions are recorded in your digital wallet.

Where do I get my QR code?

You can also access your code digitally, at any time. From your wallet dashboard, click the ‘Receive’ button. This will open your QR code and give you the option to download it. You can then attach it to invoices or if you run a physical point of sale then we recommend that you print it out and put it in a perspex stand for easy access by customers.

How do I receive payments from my customers?

Every toco wallet has a unique wallet key, which can be downloaded or printed as a QR code. Your customer will simply scan your QR code with their toco app, enter the amount they owe and process the payment.

Note that customers can also pay you from anywhere if you share your wallet key with them.
